How it works
📍
Open the app & allow location
WashWait finds all car washes within 5 km of you. Tap Allow when your browser asks for location access — this is required to find nearby washes and to verify you're actually at one before submitting a report.

Browse the list or map
Switch between List (sorted by distance) and Map (Google Maps with colour-coded pins). Tap any car wash to see its address, Google rating, opening hours, and current wait estimate.
⏱️
Join the queue — start the timer
When you pull into a car wash queue, tap "Join queue" on that wash. A timer starts in a black bar at the bottom of your screen. You can minimize the app — the timer keeps running.

Tap Done when you leave
When your car wash is finished and you're driving away, tap "✓ Done". The app shows your actual measured wait time. Adjust it if needed, add a star rating and optional comment, then tap Submit. Your data appears live for everyone else instantly.

Green ≤ 15 min
Drive right in — little to no queue
Amber ≤ 45 min
Small queue — a short wait ahead
Red 45+ min
Long queue — consider another wash
Grey
Closed or hours unknown
Wait times without live reports are estimated from typical busy patterns for the time of day. Once crowd reports come in, the estimate becomes much more accurate.

Tips for testers
🕐
Start the timer when you join the queue, not when you enter the bay. We want the full wait — from pulling in to driving away clean.
📵
You can lock your phone after tapping "Join queue." The timer keeps running in the background.
🚗
If you drive away without tapping Done, the app will auto-detect that you left and prompt you to submit — so you won't miss it.
⭐
The star rating and comment are optional but super helpful — especially noting if machines were broken or the service was unusually fast or slow.
🔄
Report as often as you go. Even if you just went last week, each report adds to the accuracy — especially for peak hours on weekends.

If a car wash is missing from the list, let Jason know the name and address and it can be added.

Your privacy

No account required. No personal data collected.

Reports are submitted anonymously with a randomly assigned name (like "Alex K." or "Jordan T."). We collect the wait time, your star rating, and your approximate location at the time of the report only. No email, no login, no tracking across sessions.
